How much natural cat food really costs per month (verified prices, 2026)

Feeding a cat natural food costs, with prices verified on 29 August 2026, between €13 and €44/month for a small cat (3 kg), €19-65/month for a medium one (4.5 kg) and €26-87/month for a large one (6 kg), depending on the brand you choose. It’s the same honest math we did for dogs in how much natural dog food really costs per month — with one real difference worth knowing before you decide: per kilo, natural cat food costs more than dog food, across all four brands that offer it.

Here are the numbers, with every price checked the same day on each brand’s website.

How we calculated it

Two assumptions, declared:

• A ration of 3% of body weight per day, a middle figure within the usual reference (2-4% depending on activity and diet type) for an adult cat: 90g/day at 3kg, 135g/day at 4.5kg, 180g/day at 6kg. Your cat may need more or less depending on age, neuter status and activity; the fine-tuning belongs to your vet.
• 30 days per month, and the per-kilo price published or calculated from each brand on 29 August 2026. Of the five brands we review at Faunatural, Dogfy Diet doesn’t offer a feline range and sits outside this comparison.

Food for Joe has no range because all three of its cat recipes only come in a single 200g format at €2.69 — no bulk discount, unlike its own dog range.

The three takeaways that matter

1. Guau&Cat keeps the same edge it has in dog food — and here it matters more. It’s the only brand with dishes under €7/kg; the rest start at €8.81/kg. Between the cheapest large cat (Guau&Cat, €26) and the priciest non-BIO option (Puromenú, €87) there’s a €61/month gap — over €700 a year. The usual caveat: its individual dishes aren’t a complete diet on their own — that’s what its Menu option or your vet’s guidance is for.

2. Cat food is proportionally more expensive than dog food, brand by brand. Compare Puromenú’s standard range: €7.13-10.61/kg for dogs versus €12.38-16.13/kg for cats — nearly 60% more per kilo within the same brand. Natuka goes from €6.83-10.60/kg for dogs to €8.81-11.80/kg for cats. The pattern repeats across all four brands: smaller formats, higher per-kilo price.

3. Puromenú’s BIO line nearly doubles the price of its own standard range. From €12.38-16.13/kg to €19.39-20.90/kg. It’s the priciest option in this entire comparison, even above Food for Joe.

What if you have both a dog and a cat?

Only three brands let you centralise orders for both species with the same supplier without giving up the lowest price: Guau&Cat, Natuka and Puromenú (Food for Joe also covers both species, but without a price edge in either). How to pay less for your cat’s food

1. Buy the large format where it exists. At Natuka, moving from 900g medallions to an 8kg box cuts the price by up to 25% per kilo. Puromenú and Food for Joe don’t offer that jump in cat food — their format is fixed.
2. Use the subscription only where it’s optional. Natuka and Puromenú give 10% off with no lock-in.
3. Don’t confuse BIO with “more natural”. The standard range from these brands is already natural food without additives; BIO adds certified organic origin, not necessarily higher nutritional quality, and its cost is much higher.
4. Do the annual math before deciding. Between the cheapest large cat and the priciest non-BIO option there’s over €700 a year in difference — the number that actually matters for sustaining the diet over time.

Before switching to natural food

If your cat is coming from kibble, the transition should be gradual, just like with dogs. A sudden change is the most common cause of rejection or digestive issues that aren’t actually “natural food doesn’t agree with them”.
