The best cooked natural dog food depends on your budget and whether you accept a subscription: Guau&Cat is the cheapest per kilo (€3.20-5.60/kg) and the others that publish a price run from €7.24 to €13.13/kg. All six arrive cold and need a freezer, although Food for Joe and Wild Balance last 60 days in the fridge unopened. Data from 15 October 2026, from each brand’s website and from Trustpilot.

Why people look for the best cooked natural dog food

Almost always for one of these three reasons:

  1. You don’t want to handle raw meat. Cooked food is thawed and served; Guau&Cat offers it as a way to start and for people who prefer not to touch raw food.
  2. Home cooking easily goes out of balance. In a UC Davis study of 200 recipes from books and websites, 95% fell short on at least one essential nutrient and only 9 met AAFCO’s minimums.
  3. You want to move on from kibble with something convenient. It’s a convenient way to start with natural food, and the switch is done gradually.

Best cooked natural dog food: the comparison

One-off prices (no subscription) and Trustpilot score, as of 15 October 2026:

Brand Price (€/kg) How to buy Trustpilot
Guau&Cat 3.20-5.60 One-off, min. 5 kg 4.5/5 (202)*
Dogfy Diet Not published Subscription only 4.4/5 (12,498)*
Food for Joe 7.24-12.95 One-off or subscription 4.1/5 (1,183)
Natuka 7.75-11.80 One-off or subscription 4.5/5 (380)
Wild Balance 9.73 One-off or subscription 4.4/5 (590)
Rovinfood 10.63-13.13 One-off or subscription No profile

Guau&Cat and Dogfy Diet are on a paid Trustpilot subscription (tools to invite reviews systematically); the rest are not. Rovinfood has no profile.

Guau&Cat costs least per kilo, and by a wide margin: its individual dishes run from €3.20 to €5.60/kg and its complete Menus from €4.07 to €5.16, against a minimum of €7.24 for the others. Dogfy Diet doesn’t publish a price per kilo: its rate comes out of a calculator with your dog’s details and it only advertises “from €1.09/day” with the welcome discount.

The six options, one by one

Guau&Cat, the price option

Cooked and BARF, for dogs and cats, bought one-off (minimum 5 kg and free delivery from 15 kg). Its cooked dishes are prepared at low temperature and cost from €3.20/kg (chicken, 1 kg) to €5.60/kg (boneless beef, 200 g). Its 4.5/5 on Trustpilot from 202 reviews comes with a caveat: the profile is on a paid subscription to the platform.

The trade-off: you need a freezer (the drawer of a standard one holds about 10-12 kg, according to its FAQ) and its individual dishes aren’t a complete diet on their own: for that it has its Menus, formulated to the FEDIAF guidelines. More detail in our Guau&Cat review.

Dogfy Diet, the personalised plan

Cooked at low temperature and for dogs only: it builds you a subscription plan around your dog, sends it frozen in daily pouches and offers a 14-day trial and free delivery. It has 4.4/5 on Trustpilot from 12,498 reviews, also on a paid subscription to the platform.

The trade-off: you don’t know what you’ll pay until you fill in its calculator, and we found no one-off purchase. More in our Dogfy Diet alternatives.

Food for Joe, the one that lasts 60 days in the fridge

Its menus for dogs and cats are pasteurised, last 60 days in the fridge unopened and the brand declares them complete, formulated following FEDIAF guidelines. They cost from €7.24/kg (1.2 kg Giant format) to €12.95/kg (200 g) and are bought without a subscription. It has 4.1/5 on Trustpilot from 1,183 reviews.

The trade-off: in small formats it’s among the most expensive per kilo and its product page doesn’t publish the daily portion, only a calculator. More in our Food for Joe review.

Natuka, the one with the most formats

Its cooked menus from Natuka run from 250 g to 12 kg boxes, for dogs and cats (it also has BARF). They cost from €7.75/kg (12 kg box) to €11.80/kg (250 g) and its product page talks about a complete, balanced diet. It has 4.5/5 on Trustpilot from 380 reviews, without a paid subscription.

The trade-off: the basket has to add up to at least 4 kg and delivery is free from €79. More in our Natuka review.

Wild Balance, the 400 g pouches

Food cooked at low temperature, with no cereals or artificial preservatives, in frozen 400 g pouches. Wild Balance’s cooked food costs €9.73/kg (€3.89 a pouch), and today only chicken and duck are in stock. It has 4.4/5 on Trustpilot from 590 reviews, without a paid subscription.

The trade-off: a minimum order of 4 kg of frozen, €6.99 delivery when the order includes frozen and a product page with no explicit “complete food” declaration. More in our Wild Balance review.

Rovinfood, pure cooked

Cooked food only, deep-frozen, in 400 g packs (chicken, pork, salmon and beef). Its Rovinfood menus cost from €10.63/kg to €13.13/kg (the beef), with free delivery from €75 or with a subscription.

The trade-off: it’s the highest range per kilo and has no Trustpilot profile, so there’s no independent score to look at. More in our Rovinfood alternatives.

What if you have a cat?

The choice narrows and Dogfy Diet has no cat range. With prices from 15 October 2026:

Natuka €8.81-11.80/kg
Wild Balance €9.16-9.99/kg
Food for Joe €13.45/kg

Which one suits your case

If what’s stopping you is… The answer is…
The price per kilo Guau&Cat (€3.20-5.60/kg), if you can freeze
Not wanting a subscription Any except Dogfy Diet: the other five let you buy one-off
Having the plan calculated for you Dogfy Diet, by subscription only
No room in the freezer Food for Joe or Wild Balance: up to 60 days in the fridge unopened. To avoid relying on cold, our freezer-free comparison
Also having a cat Guau&Cat (€5.25-7.00/kg), Natuka or Wild Balance
Reputation you can check Food for Joe, Natuka or Wild Balance: no paid Trustpilot subscription

And the rule that always applies: the best diet isn’t the most convenient or the most expensive, it’s the one you can keep up every month without dropping it after three months. If you’re coming from kibble and considering any of these brands, make the switch gradual, over 7-10 days: we explain how in our transition guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is cooking at home better than buying cooked dog food?

Not necessarily. In a UC Davis study of 200 recipes from books and websites, 95% fell short on at least one essential nutrient. If you cook yourself, use a recipe from a veterinary nutritionist, not a generic one.

It depends on the product. Food for Joe and Guau&Cat’s Menus declare it, and Natuka and Dogfy Diet talk about complete, balanced menus; Guau&Cat’s individual dishes aren’t a complete diet on their own. On the Wild Balance and Rovinfood product pages we saw no explicit “complete food” declaration: check the label.

How long does cooked dog food last once opened?

Guau&Cat, 2-3 days according to its FAQ (its product page says 3-4); Wild Balance, 3 days; Food for Joe and Rovinfood, 4 days. For the rest, check the pack.
