Natural dog food without a freezer: options (2026)
Freezer-free doesn't mean the same for every brand. We compare six, from the price benchmark (Guau&Cat, frozen) to those that last months in the pantry.
In this article
Natural dog food without a freezer exists and is sold in Spain, but “freezer-free” doesn’t mean the same thing for every brand, and it almost always costs more per kilo. Some last months in the pantry, others need a fridge, and the price benchmark, Guau&Cat, arrives frozen. We compare all six, with data checked on 8 October 2026 on each brand’s website.
Why people look for natural dog food without a freezer
Almost all fresh natural food arrives frozen. Three reasons to look for something else:
- You have no freezer, or it won’t fit. The drawer of a standard one holds about 10-12 kg, according to Guau&Cat itself, and a 15 kg dog eats about 11 kg a month (the sum is in our monthly cost guide).
- You travel or are often away. Food that lasts months in the pantry is easier to take along and to leave.
- You don’t want to wait for it to thaw. Guau&Cat asks you to move it to the fridge about 24 hours before serving.
Natural dog food without a freezer: the comparison
Prices and reputation checked on 8 October 2026 on each brand’s website and on Trustpilot:
| Brand | Price (€/kg) | Without a freezer | Trustpilot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guau&Cat | 2.95-5.60 | No: arrives frozen | 4.5/5 (200)* |
| AltuDog | 12.50-25.00 (dry) | Yes: 4 months unopened | 4.3/5 (171) |
| Naturalmente Feliz | 7.03-9.98 | Yes: 12 months unopened | No profile |
| Arquivet FreshHome | 10.67-12.58 | Yes: no time limit stated | 3.4/5 (2) |
| COCOSI | 4.99-7.60 | Yes: no time limit stated | No profile |
| Food for Joe | 7.24-12.95 | With a fridge: 60 days | 4.1/5 (1,183) |
Guau&Cat is on a paid Trustpilot subscription (tools to invite reviews systematically). Naturalmente Feliz and COCOSI have no profile.
Guau&Cat costs least per kilo, but it’s the only one in the table that arrives frozen. With dehydrated food the price per kilo is misleading: AltuDog looks the most expensive, but its table asks for 180 g a day for a 15 kg dog, so it works out at €68-102 a month, against the €125-178 of Naturalmente Feliz by its own table (595 g a day).
And note: no freezer doesn’t mean no fridge. Once opened, almost all of them need cold: 2-3 days for Naturalmente Feliz, 4 for Food for Joe and 25 for AltuDog.

The six options, one by one
Guau&Cat, the price benchmark (with a freezer)
Cooked and BARF, for dogs and cats, bought one-off (with a customer account and a minimum order of 5 kg). It costs €2.95-5.60/kg for dogs and €4.75-7.00/kg for cats. Its 4.5/5 on Trustpilot from 200 reviews comes with a caveat: the profile is on a paid subscription to the platform.
The trade-off: you need a freezer, and its individual dishes aren’t a complete diet on their own: for that it has its Menus. More detail in our Guau&Cat review.
AltuDog, the dehydrated option
It’s the only dehydrated option on the list: dehydrated menus with meat or fish, declared complete food, in 250 g, 1 kg and 2 kg bags. It costs €12.50/kg (2 kg bag) to €25.00/kg (the 250 g one) and keeps for up to 4 months unopened.
It has 4.3/5 on Trustpilot from 171 reviews, on a profile the company hasn’t claimed. 12% are one-star, with quality complaints (bags with insects or mould) that Trustpilot doesn’t verify.
The trade-off: it has to be rehydrated (10-15 minutes’ rest) and must be stored below 20 °C, which in summer doesn’t happen on its own in a kitchen or storeroom.
Naturalmente Feliz, the sausage that lasts 12 months in the pantry
It’s 450 g sausages, sterilised and vacuum-packed, declared complete food, which according to its website keep for 12 months at room temperature. They cost €7.03/kg (box of 12, chicken) to €9.98/kg (box of 6, beef). It has no Trustpilot profile: its 4.6/5 from 274 reviews is the one on its own shop.
The trade-off: it’s dog only and, once opened, the sausage has to be used within 2-3 days.
Arquivet FreshHome, the small-format cooked option
These are 280 g stews in vacuum-sealed packaging, with 97% fresh meat according to its product page, grain-free and declared complete food. They need no refrigeration. They cost €10.67/kg with the current 15% discount and €12.58/kg without it.
The trade-off: it’s among the most expensive per kilo, dog only, gives no expiry date and rests on just two reviews on Trustpilot (3.4/5). More in our Arquivet alternatives.
COCOSI, the cheapest semi-moist
It’s semi-moist, with 20% moisture according to its product page, which declares it complete food and “no refrigeration needed”. In its online shop it costs €4.99/kg (6 kg bag) to €7.60/kg (1 kg puppy bag); with so little water it goes further per kilo, so the price isn’t comparable. It has no Trustpilot profile: its 4.65/5 from 63 reviews is the one on its own shop.
The trade-off: its website publishes no feeding table or advice for an opened bag. More in our COCOSI review.
Food for Joe, no freezer, but a fridge
It’s food cooked at low temperature and declared complete, for dogs and cats. Its label lets you choose between a freezer at -18 °C or a fridge at 4 °C for 60 days, and 4 days once opened. In its shop it costs €7.24/kg (1,200 g) to €12.95/kg (200 g). It has the most independent backing: 4.1/5 on Trustpilot from 1,183 reviews.
The trade-off: if what you lack is fridge space, it doesn’t help: it always needs cold. More in our Food for Joe alternatives.
What if you have a cat?
The choice narrows here. Data checked on 8 October 2026:
| Brand | Price per kilo (cat) |
|---|---|
| Guau&Cat | €4.75-7.00/kg (frozen) |
| AltuDog | from €15.00/kg (dehydrated, 1 kg bag) |
| Food for Joe | €13.45/kg (200 g, needs a fridge) |
Guau&Cat covers cats with 200 g dishes and a complete Menu, but everything arrives frozen. Naturalmente Feliz and Arquivet FreshHome are dog only, and COCOSI limits its cat range mainly to mousses, soups and snacks. More in natural cat food.

Which one suits your case
| If what’s stopping you is… | The answer is… |
|---|---|
| The price per kilo | Guau&Cat (€2.95-5.60/kg), if you can freeze |
| Having neither a freezer nor free fridge space | Naturalmente Feliz or Arquivet: vacuum-sealed, they need no cold until opened |
| Travelling, being away or monthly spend | AltuDog: 4 months unopened and €68-102 a month for a 15 kg dog |
| Also having a cat | Guau&Cat, if you can freeze, or AltuDog |
| Reputation you can check | Guau&Cat (4.5/5, paid profile), Food for Joe (4.1/5, needs a fridge) or AltuDog (4.3/5) |
| A middle step between kibble and cooked | COCOSI, knowing it has no independent reputation |
And the rule that always applies: the best diet isn’t the most convenient or the most expensive, it’s the one you can keep up every month without dropping it after three. If you’re coming from kibble and considering any of these brands, make the switch gradual, over 7-10 days: we explain how in our transition guide.
